Procedure Text - How To Make

Procedure text is a form of text that describes the steps to do something.

The purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something through a sequence of actions or steps

Feature procedure text

  •Usually using the Simple Present

   Tense with the formula (S+V1)

•Imperative form / command 

   form

•Using action verbs, for example:    

    make, take, boil, cook,

•Using temporal conjunctions, for 

    example: First, then, next, after 

    that, last

•Using conjunctions to sort 

    activities, for example, then, 

    while,etc.

•Using adverbs (adverbs) to 

    express detailed time, place, 

    accurate ways, for example for 

    five minutes, 2 hours, etc.

•Using adverbs (adverbs) to 

    express stages or sequences, 

    for example the first, the 

    second, the third, the last, etc.

Procedure Text Type

   •Procedure text that explains 

     how something works or how to 

     use operating instructions/

     manuals, for example how to 

     use a computer, how to record 

     a video.Example how to use 

     plaroid camera.

•Procedure texts that instruct 

     how to perform certain 

     activities, such as how to make 

     noodles, how to dance, how to 

     play basketball.

•Procedure texts related to 

   human behavior, for example, 

   how to be successful, how to live 

   happily, how to be a good 

   person.

Structure Procedure Text:

 •Goal: provides information about 

   the intent and purpose of the 

   procedure and predicts    

   a conclusion.

•Materials: contains a list of   

   materials or materials needed to 

   perform a procedure or steps.

•Steps : a list of sequences of 

  instructions/activities to achieve 

  a goal in the correct sequence of 

  steps.

•Result: The result of a series of 

  steps that have been carried out.

Language Elements of Procedure Text

 •Use a lot of command verbs or 

   imperative verbs

 •Use a lot of technical words 

   related to the topic

 •Use a lot of conjunctions to 

   mean addition

 •Use a lot of persuasive 

   statements

 •Provide a detailed description 

   (including number, size, and 

   color) of the objects and tools

   used

Example:

How To Make Scaramble Eggs

Let’s learn how to make yummy scrambled eggs at your home with this easy recipe!

Ingredients:

• 2 eggs

• Milk (if desired)

• 1 teaspoon of butter

• A pinch of salt and pepper

Steps:

1. First, crack the eggs into a small   

    bowl and add a pinch of salt and 

    pepper. Whisk until all well 

    blended.

2. In a frying pan, add butter and

    let it melt.

3. Pour the eggs and milk, and for

    around 20 seconds, do not stir 

    it.

4. After that, fold the eggs to the 

    center and stir with spatula.

5. Repeat the previous step until 

    all the eggs are mostly cooked

6. Remove eggs from heat, and 

    keep continue to fold and stir 

    the eggs for around a minute.

7. Lift the eggs, put on the serving 

    plate and your scrambled eggs 

     are ready
